Jingsiyuan Garden covers an area of 66mu, and the whole garden shows a layout of east house and west garden, and it is divided into three regions: rare stone exhibition area, water garden area and ancient architecture area. From its general style, it can be concluded to five characteristics:
The first one is to resume the interrupted Suzhou landscape gardening for a century

Suzhou garden flourished in Song dynasty, and the poet Su Zimei built the "Gentle Waves Pavilion" to create the landscape gardening pioneer, and in Yuan dynasty, the eminent monk-Tian master was supported by its disciples and they built the "Lion Grove" for him. During Ming and Qing dynasties, Suzhou landscape gardening has entered into golden age and the total number of landscape gardening is up to more than 270. While in the late Qing dynasty, landscape gardening was suspended due to the corruption of Qing government and chaos caused by war. During the period from the founding of the state to the reform and opening-up policy, our country has carried out frequent motions, it is more impossible to implement landscape gardening, therefore, the period of such more than one hundred years forms a division of history. Since the Third Plenary Session, with logical administration and harmonious people, full-scale reconstruction has been under way. Mr. Chen Jingen, the builder of Jingsiyuan Garden, has begun to collect the halls, gate towers, picturesque peaks & rocks, wood, bricks, stone-carving works and antiques constructed in Ming and Qing dynasty since the early 1980s. And then, the garden has been built for 10 years from 1993 to 2003. The birth of Jingsiyuan Garden fully verifies the historical law of "landscape gardening in flourishing age" and it is the prosperous epitome for the politics, economy and culture in our age, which opens up the landscape gardening precedent of new age.

The second one is to step over the Chu-Han impassable chasm of the "recluse culture and landscape gardening by literati" in Suzhou garden

Since ancient times, Suzhou has had "urban resources and outstanding people", and furthermore, has always awarded the good reputations of "more Xiu Cai, Ju Ren and Zhuangyuan". Since Ming dynasty, Suzhou has planted mulberry trees, raised silkworm, carried out silk reeling and weaving, and at that time, manual workshops have been scattered everywhere and people have lived a life at a subsistent level. The hills and waters in Wuzhong area breed talented and romantic scholars from generation to generation. With the good vision of the saying that "a good scholar will make an official" and carrying with the books by the boatload, the young scholars went to Beijing for imperial examinations along with the "Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal". After achieving success in the government examination, they secured official positions across the country. After experiencing the hardships and dangers of official career, ups and downs of government official, the frustrated or retired prominent officials and eminent personages went back to Suzhou with tiredness and boatload silver. They were enclosed via a garden to build their own ideal spiritual paradise, this is the higher level reincarnation of life. Reclusive cultural taste and the spiritual world of refined scholars are totally embodied in every brick, tile, tree and bush of the Suzhou garden. The politics, economy and culture of all ages are concentrated in Suzhou garden, it is just so called: "small garden and big world." As a cultural works, Jingsiyuan Garden is endowed with fresh new content in the harmonious and prosperous times, the entrepreneur landscape gardening has developed into the cultural characteristics of new age, and a post era of garden has quietly come to us.

The third one is to innovate the inheritance of garden architecture

The construction of Jingsiyuan Garden is full of new architectural idea. It not only has classical garden architecture, but also has new content. The gallery, bridge and hall of the garden are the new-style architectural forms instead of the small and exquisite styles of Suzhou garden. The "Heting Bridge" integrated with Suzhou-Anhui styles is the unprecedented break both in size and scale. Multi-functional meeting hall, tea house and dining hall are equipped with modern air conditioning equipment. The idea of "ancient civilization and modern enjoyment" has quietly walked into Jingsiyuan Garden.

The fourth one is to decorate the garden with Lingbi Peak stones

Taihu stones are mostly adopted for rockery and landscape design in the Suzhou garden, while Lingbi stone is used seldom. The reason is that the Lake Taihu in Xishan district of Suzhou city abounds in Taihu stones. And therefore, the thin, wrinkling, dripping and transparent Taihu stones, halls & pavilions made of white wall and black tiles as well as the rare flowers & trees integrate into a small &exquisite and beautiful & refined 3D picture. And furthermore, besides these magnificent classics, Lingbi Peak stones can be seen everywhere in the Jingsiyuan Garden.

The fifth one is to keep the charms of ancient appearance in new garden

Jingsiyuan Garden is the newly-built garden at first glance, but after careful appreciation, you'll find that it's an "old garden", this is because the vast majority of bricks, carved gate towers and halls in the garden are the works from the period of Ming and Qing Dynasty. These exquisite buildings are obtained via the protection of Shanghai, Suzhou and Anhui, they disappear in the mass-demolishing and mass-construction of cities, but find out their final destination in the Jingsiyuan Garden, which makes up a historical & modern architectural landscape painting. The five hundred million year-old Lingbi stone, Song dynasty's white marble lion, lake stone from the backyard garden of Yuan dynasty's "Xiaojiuhua Temple", plinth and furniture from Ming-Qing dynasty, etc. record the splendid cultural history of our Chinese nation and tell the age-old amazing stories.
