Food &tea
Luxiang Pavilion is located in the center of Meditation Garden and besieged by garden sceneries. With the bizarre and gaudy exhibition area of rare stones to the east, with pavilions, terraces and open halls with white wall and black tiles to the south and with water scenic area embracing mountains and rivers to the west, Luxiang Pavilion is a place where you can enjoy both delicious foods and beautiful sceneries.
The restaurant is decorated with ancient furniture of Ming and Qing styles, old wood, bluestone, black bricks and silk products. These building and decorating materials make the restaurant impart antique beauty and filled with a sense of history. The ancient days are incorporated into this seemingly limited space so that one may feel as if he were in an old store and generate an impulse and eagerness to dialogue with Chinese traditional cultures.

The featured cuisine is the garden banquet. The garden attaches importance to harmony between man and nature. In order to conform to this concept, the restaurant tries to “make taste of a food come out, make taste go into a tasteless food, remove peculiar tastes and aggregate good tastes” so that natural ingredients converge naturally, natural tastes flow naturally and the life of original ecology reveals itself naturally. At the same time, both garden and Suzhou local cuisine are representatives of Suzhou culture. They are tied in a hundred and one ways. A garden can provide a quiet and beautiful platform for Suzhou local cuisines so the restaurant has added some extremely featured Suzhou local cuisines, which become a unique landscape in the garden.

Like friendship, tea is not strong but gives off faint scent permanently. It is refreshing and impressing you most. Like life, tea flows down your throat slowly with flavor turning from bitterness to sweetness. Different people can feel different temperatures and shades from the same cup and the same variety of tea. It is merely a matter of emotion. Hold a cup to smell its fragrance and evict foul air with fresh air. All classes of authors cannot fully interpret the connotation of tea. In the past days, Li Bai and Su Dongpo burned incense, reposed and tasted tea quietly. Now, everyone can sit in Meditation Garden, tasting tea with fragrance and talking of everything under the sun.

“Sitting alone in a mountain cottage, I waited for the moon to rise. Except for green tea, I have nothing to entertain my good friend.” In Three Kingdoms Period, Cao Cao and Liu Bei talked about heroes while cooking wine. Now we can meet our old friends in Meditation Garden. It is the same kind of tranquil enjoyment, with no fascination of alcohol but with more leisure and comfort from tea. On a leisurely afternoon, several friends can hold a long heart-to-heart talk, tasting tea and listening to music. They can talk with enthusiasms and with a lingering fragrance in their mouths. Or it can be one person, one book, one cup of tea and one meditation. This is also a scene filled with distinctive flavors. Tasting tea in different places can have different artistic conceptions. It is the best thing in this world to taste with several people or drink alone in Meditation Garden, enjoying tea, friends, books and yourself.
